Mr. Thomas L Lelekoitien, Board Member   

Alternate to PS Environment and Climate Change

Mr. Thomas Lerenten Lelekoitien, is the Deputy Director Climate Change Adaptation, at the Climate Change Directorate, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry in Kenya. Mr. Lelekoitien has a master's degree in environmental management from Flinders University (Australia), Bsc. in Natural Resource Management from Egerton University (Kenya) and a Diploma in Outdoor leadership skills from National Outdoor Leadership School, Wyoming, USA.

He has over 23 years’ experience in environmental and climate change adaptation work. He coordinates climate change adaptation in Kenya. He is the adaptation national focal point for Kenya under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). He served as a member of the NAP Global Network Steering Committee for three years.

He leads the Kenya team of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC negotiators following adaptation and loss and damage agenda items. Lerenten was an alternate member representing Africa at the UNFCCC Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Platform’s Facilitative Working Group.
